Calgary Economic Development, through the EDGE UP program, offers free training for energy sector workers who are considering transitioning to tech. This initiative has contributed to the significant growth in the tech industry recruitment rate from 2015 to 2020 which is now over 17.9 percent and is equivalent to 46,700 tech jobs.

Vog App Developers is one of the fast-growing tech companies in Calgary that opens up opportunities and hires oil and gas workers with transferrable skills to fill vacant positions in his company. However, Vince O’Gorman, CEO of Vog, added that the oil and gas sector is booming again; it can be more challenging to find talents right now who are willing to pivot to tech from the energy sector.
