Vince O’Gorman, CEO of Vog, was invited to be interviewed by CBC News in March 2021. According to their released article, there are Calgarian companies that have initiated a partnership to alleviate the shortage of workers in the technology sector. These companies include Vog App Developers, Immigrant Services Calgary, Windmill Microlending, and Finney-Taylor Consulting, who tied up to train and recruit newcomers to join the city’s tech workforce.
O’Gorman said that in the range of one to ten and ten as the highest, the difficulty in finding qualified intermediate and senior-level developers is ten. Demand in the tech sectors skyrocketed last year, so the available talents in the pool were depleted immediately.
“We’re in the midst of a growing pain,” O’Gorman told CBC News. Hence, he hopes the partnership will help discover immigrants here in Canada with programming experience to fill the 20 positions available in his company, which for the time being, is still vacant.
