Our very own UX/UI Designer, Ethan Livingstone, has had his artwork featured on the Android Central YouTube channel and we couldn’t be more proud! The video features an entire android theme centred around Ethan’s work taking great care to not let any apps or functions stop the Black Panther design from being shown at all times. I sat down with Ethan to chat about this accomplishment and what it means for him as both an artist and an individual.
From Passion to Publicity
Ethan has turned his passions and interests into something both profitable in a career, and rewarding for both himself as an individual and for us who get to reap the benefits of his awesome designs.
This sort of spotlight is a big deal for Ethan, what started out as a hobby later became an education, a career, and now a passion. Ethan was amazed to see any sort of feedback from his artwork. ” It was really cool to find out, I never thought anyone would want to use my art for anything so I felt super honoured that they featured it.”, said Ethan. Our talented artist often publishes his work on his webpages, Instagram, and Displate profile and was delighted when Android Central reached out to him for the use of his Black Panther Artwork. “I received an email from Ara Wagoner from Android Central. She saw my work on my Displate profile and was able to contact me through my website” mentioned Ethan. However, this was not his first comic book related to design, in fact, Ethan has made many comic-related pieces including website layouts, animations, and minimalist poster designs.”I have always liked comic books and superheroes. There is something about their designs that I really enjoy. They are so dramatic and exciting and colourful and the amazing art always pushed me to get better” he remarked. Black Panther has always been a personal favourite to Ethan and when he saw the new Captain America Civil War trailer he immediately fell in love with the costume design. “My inspiration was from the Marvel comics character Black Panther who was in the movie Captain America Civil War. I got inspired when I saw the first trailer glimpse of Black Panther. He looked so cool that I just had to draw him so I paused the trailer and from the small look that I could get I drew his mask because I loved the way it looked with the silver accents and the woven look.” said Ethan. I (Brandon) had the privilege of going to college with Ethan and can give you my own personal testament as to this good friend’s talent. Ethan has turned his passions and interests into something both profitable in a career and rewarding for both himself as an individual and for us who get to reap the benefits of his awesome designs. I personally find this inspiring and hope we can all find what we love to do and make it work the way Ethan has. Well done buddy!
What’s Next?
We see a lot of potential in Ethan and hope to continue to build, grow, and celebrate his accomplishments with him.
As far as what is next for Ethan he is hard at work on many projects at VOG Calgary Apps! However, he is always working on something else in the background whether it be for his own personal showcase or for his eyes only. “I have nothing from Android Central as of now, I have a couple of ideas for metal posters but I have to find the time to do them first” laughed Ethan.
